Pharmacological Effects | • Sedative and hypnotic: essential oil has demonstrated inhibitory effect on CNS; following intravenous injection at 50 mg/kg in rabbits, there is significant inhibition of perception of pain and olfactory stimulation; also prolonged sleeping time induced by pentobarbital • Antibiotic: inhibitory effect on S. aureus, Diplococcus pneumoniae, and Bacillus subtilis • Anesthetic: essential oil has anesthetic functions in mice, rabbit, cat and dog studies |
