Pharmacological Effects | • Hemostatic: charred Da Ji has demonstrated hemostatic properties and shortens bleeding time • Antibiotic: alcohol tincture at a concentration of 1:30,000 demonstrated inhibitory effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis, based on in vitro tests • Cardiovascular: water or alcohol extract decreased heart rate and lowered blood pressure in experiments with dogs, cats and rabbits |
Herb-Drug Interactions | • Anticoagulant drugs: herb contains vitamin K, which may reduce anticoagulant effect of warfarin; use with caution to prevent formation of clots • Incompatible with Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix) |
